Dr Needham in this sermon examines the “deadly sin of envy or jealousy” and its opposite virtue of generosity. An angry man or woman may be a brute towards others but a jealous man or woman is little short of a devil in human form. This is because envy is that state of mind when you resent someone else's good fortunes or gifts and regard those good fortune and gifts as harmful to you. Envy has many sides to it and carries great damaging effect.
